Touch/Pressure Paddle for CW
Announcing just about the greatest thing since sliced bread: here is probably one of the lightest, most easily portable and luggable morse paddles you’ll ever come across.
If your favourite activities are SOTA or POTA, this is the paddle for you.
It weighs in at mere 32 grams, and is super portable. Drag it up the summit with you, it won’t weigh you down.
And when you’re setting up your rig, the paddle is truly plug and play – no adjustments, no tension adjustments to fiddle with; just plug it in and start sending. It is truly rugged, and has no moving parts.
Based on a design by David VK3IL, Vince VE6LK and I are about to market our slightly modified version of David’s Version 2.0 circuit.
The most notable change is our addition of a 3.5mm jack on the end of the touch paddle.
This allows you to easily exchange the cable as you switch radios or reconfigure your operating position.
Initially, this paddle is available with the 100mm/3.9″ board, and is fully assembled and tested.
We are only offering a fully assembled and tested paddle. If you really want to build your own, look at VK3IL’s blog for details, including the PCB gerber files to order your own PCBs, as well as all the necessary component part numbers.
The necessary parts are currently being sourced and priced, so stay tuned for availability of this Version 2.5 Paddle.
The initial release for sale is a (very) small quantity of the original VK3IL V2 100mm board with a +/- 1 meter cable and plug.
By the time you read this, we’ll probably be sold out. Version 2.5 is expected to ship in late January 2025.
